Medical English Class Experience of Korean medical Students

Abstract

This study was attempted to prepare basic data for the development of an Korean medicine curriculum that meets the needs of learners and seeks to improve the quality of medical English classes in the future after understanding the medical English class experience of Korean medicine students. The study participants were 40 students who completed medical English classes among first-year students of the pre-Korean medicine department at a university in N city and agreed to participate in the study. The data collection period is from January 1 to January 15, 2021, and the reflection journal written by the student was collected as data and analyzed according to the inductive content analysis method. As a result of the
analysis, three categories were derived: ¡®awareness of medical English¡¯, ¡®change in thinking about medical English subjects¡¯, and ¡®medical English subject learning outcomes¡¯. Therefore, it is necessary to reorganize the Korean medicine curriculum so that English-related subjects can be organized from the pre-Korean medicine department to the Korean medicine department operation will be required.
